How Much Does Christmas Light Installation Cost in Miami? What Actually Drives the Price

Why two Miami homes on the same street can get very different Christmas light quotes — roofline, stories, palms, decorations — and what to check so you're comparing the same thing.

"How much does it cost?" is the first thing everyone asks a Christmas light company, and the honest answer is: it depends on your home and what you want lit. That's not a dodge. Two houses on the same street in Kendall or Pembroke Pines can come in very far apart, because the price follows a handful of specific things.

Here's what those things are, so you can read any quote — ours or anyone else's — and know what you're looking at.

1. How much roofline you light

The roofline is the backbone of most displays and usually the biggest line on the quote. Two questions drive it:

  • Which sides? Lighting just the front is a very different job from wrapping the whole home. Many Miami homes light the street-facing side and the side people see on the way in, and skip the back.
  • How many feet? Hip roofs, which are everywhere in South Florida, have more edges than a simple gable. A sprawling one-story ranch in Pinecrest can have more roofline than a compact two-story in Doral.

2. How tall the home is

Height changes the work, not just the materials. A one-story roofline goes up from a ladder. A two-story roofline takes more ladder work and more time, and three stories and up usually needs a lift and an on-site measurement before anyone can give a firm price.

3. Your roof

Barrel and flat tile roofs are the norm across Miami-Dade and Broward. They look great lit, but they need clips made for tile, and the crew works from ladders rather than walking on tile that can crack. Shingle roofs and gutter lines are simpler. A good installer prices this in up front instead of discovering it on install day.

4. Palms and trees

This is where South Florida quotes differ most from anywhere else. Palms are priced by:

  • Height — a short palm by the pool versus a royal palm along the drive.
  • Coverage — trunk only, or trunk and crown.
  • How many you light.

Shade trees work the same way: trunk only, or trunk plus the main limbs. See how palms get wrapped for why coverage matters so much.

5. Decorations and extras

Wreaths (by size), garland around the entry, mini lights on bushes and hedges, and pathway or driveway lights each add their own line. A custom color mix on the roofline — say warm white, red and green alternating — is usually priced separately from the standard colors, because the bulbs are ordered for your home.

6. What's included (the part people forget to compare)

This is the biggest reason quotes look so different. Before you compare two numbers, check what each one covers:

  • Who supplies the lights? Some companies install lights you buy. Others supply everything.
  • Is maintenance included? If a section goes dark in mid December, is the fix free, or a service call?
  • Is takedown included? Or is January a second bill?
  • Is there a timer?
  • Who stores the lights? If it's you, that's your garage for eleven months.
  • Is the price firm? Ask what could change it after you book.

A lower number that leaves out takedown and repairs isn't cheaper — it's a different product.

How our pricing works

Every price we give is all-in for the season: commercial-grade LED lights, a dusk-to-dawn timer, installation by an insured crew, free repairs within 48 hours all season, and takedown and haul-away in January. The lights stay ours, so there's nothing to buy or store, and you can change colors or redesign next year without buying a new set.

There's a seasonal minimum per home, and most homes with roofline lights are above it. Your price only changes if you add to your display or your home turns out materially different from your answers — and if that happens, you can accept the update or cancel.
